The Standard

1

Everybody gets home.

Drunk, high, or out of it, nobody gets left behind. If they came with the group, they leave with the group. If someone's too far gone to decide, the only decision left tonight is getting them home safe.

2

Be the first reply.

Silence in the chat is a vote. "Delete that" costs you thirty awkward seconds. Staying quiet can cost someone a lot more.

3

Interrupt.

Distract, delay, or dial. Doing nothing is a choice, and it's the weak one.

4

Nobody's yours to share.

Not yours to post. Not yours, period. Nobody gets filmed, forwarded, or ranked.

5

Real friends stop you.

Loyalty is stopping him before the worst night of his life becomes the rest of his life.

Not funny. Delete it. Who's getting her home?

Send this rule to your own group chat before anything happens. Screenshot it with names blurred, post it, tag three friends.

Stood up.

Guys who lived the Standard when it counted. No names, no hero talk. Just the move that changed the night.

Tell yours.

You did the thing. Somebody got home, a chat got shut down, a friend got stopped. Tell it in a few lines so the next guy knows what it looks like.

  1. What was happening?
  2. What did you say or do?
  3. How did it end?

Keep everyone anonymous, including you if you want. Don't name people, teams, houses, or schools. Handles, emails, and phone numbers are removed automatically. A real person reads every story before it goes up.

If this is about something that happened to you, this isn't the place for it. RAINN is free and confidential, 24/7: 800-656-4673.

Questions

Is this saying guys are the problem?

No. It assumes you're one of the good ones and gives you the job. Most guys would never hurt anyone. The gap is the silence around the few who do.

What if I'm not sure it's that serious?

You don't need to be sure. Asking "you good?" or "let's get you home" costs nothing. If you're wrong, it was a slightly awkward night. If you're right, you changed one.

Can my chapter or team join?

Yes. Adopt the Standard together, pin the rule in your group chat, and post the screenshot. Chapter kits are coming.
